The other evening Adam Berman - our executive director - took us on a surprise trip to a new tea place by our farm called Far Leaves. This guy Tano and a woman named Donna did a tea history presentation with us and we got to sample all different sorts of tea. Among many fun things I learned, America is the only place where any type of water-infused leaf beverage is referred to as "tea." In other parts of the world "tea" made from the chamilia (not chamomile) is differentiated from "tea" made from lemongrass, mint, chamomile, ginger, peppermint etc.
Tali Weinberg - our farm manager - gave us two presentations/workshops recently: live-culture fermentation pickling and herbal medicine. We now have a bunch of saurkraut, pickles, and cumphrey in oil among other exciting bottled things.
